Equine-Assisted PsychoTherapy

We can facilitate equine-assisted psychotherapy sessions for individuals, couples, families and groups at Operation Centaur’s beautiful site in Richmond Park. EAP allows clients to use therapy in an experiential way – going straight to their feelings and enabling a totally different therapeutic experience that clients have said feels liberating and exciting.

Come and see our space and talk to us – we find the horses often reflect our internal worlds in enlightening ways. Choose between a standalone session or a course of treatment – it could be exhilarating. No riding is involved nor is any horse experience necessary.

Equine-assisted psychotherapy strips away some of the layers of conventional therapeutic intervention. It allows a relationship between the horses and clients to become the focus of the sessions. They can choose to connect or to not connect. As the therapeutic team, we can then step back and observe this relationship unfold.

There are times in all our lives when our emotions are overwhelming. Our distress can be complex, and sometimes difficult to put into words. Horses can become the catalyst to allow us to see deeper within ourselves.

EAP involves working with horses on the ground, examining our experiences as they unfold over a series of sessions. It is a holding and safe space that clients feel they can use to gain a deeper and more reflective understanding of themselves and how they relate to others.

It helps with accessing feelings that are hard to name, own or process and sometimes we uncover feeling we had forgotten we had.
