The Addiction Screen
We are seeing a trend where people are sometimes caught into a dysfunctional behavioural cycle with technology due to its ubiquitous nature. We are flooded with images from our mobile phones, tablets and computers – be it through the internet, texting and messaging services, social media and a constant stream of emails. It is difficult to sift through the flow and to switch off.
We notice that relationships can be particularly affected by intrusions from these various sources and a good way of finding a mutual way forward is to talk it through together in therapy.
We can help with negotiating a digital detox together with suggesting other activities that may help reduce screen dependency.
They are an essential part of our lives, but we need to be in control of the technology, not vice versa.
