An element of all therapy, be it for mental health or for physical wellness, is to build up core strength.
It is important to validate this intention and to name it.
In addition to the talking therapies and the experiential value of speaking with family members present, we can also look at how we regulate our bodies internally and externally – by mindful use of the breath and considering the wider world with a sense of wonder.
Often in depression, stress, anxiety and addiction, the pain and fear we feel close us down and make us disconnected from ourselves and each other – we need to unfurl, perhaps with trepidation, but ultimately in peace.
A happy result of therapy is that the world can become a less fearful place, our horizons widen and we feel a sense of belonging.
WE ARE TIDAL
"So we beat on
Boats against the current
Borne back ceaselessly into the past."
